Objective and Values
The Wigtown Neighbourhood Watch was established in March 2026. And is part of Neighbourhood
Watch Scotland. The Wigtown Watch presently has 40 members.
Primarily, our Neighbourhood Watch is about information sharing and fostering community spirit.
It is Not a Vigilante Group or a Neighbourhood Patrol.
Our Neighbourhood Watch is a community led initiative to bring local people together to address
crime and other community safety issues. Our Neighbourhood Watch is supported by the local
police, the local authority and other agencies.
Benefits of being a member of a Neighbourhood Watch
There are a number of key benefits of being a member of the Wigtown Watch:
Areas of local concern can be easily addressed.
An individual’s problem becomes a shared problem.
Watch members work together to make communities safer.
The local Watch can work together with other Watches, the police and other partners.
Watch members will have the opportunity to better know their neighbours, local police
officers and other service providers.
Monetary Benefits. Being a member of a Neighbourhood Watch may secure a discount on
your house insurance.
